Who is Tara Derington?   I hate when people start off personal narratives and bios with that question, first off; it’s incredibly overused in modern writing, and secondly it doesn’t define who I am, it merely states where I am at a point in time.  The real question is who will I become?  I am defined not by my career, no, that is too easy in a world full of workaholics where money is celebrated and lauded above knowledge and education; I am defined by my past, present, and future.  My future may be a mystery, but it is a mystery I revel in, one with countless opportunities and one filled with adventure.  Before you write me off as another Generation Y dreamer let’s consider some of the facts:

  • I graduated Cum Laude from Northern Kentucky University, BA in Journalism

  • I have a plethora of film industry knowledge “I know who Meryl Streep is”

  • Dream Job: Working on It

  • Avid Coffee Drinker, Social Media Fanatic, Observer, Book Connoisseur

  • Consumer, and more importantly, Producer of daily life

  • Aliases: T-Weezy, Aunt T-Rex, Tarrah Tawcett, Lee, & Ta

  • Signature Drink: Scarlett O’Hara (SoCo, cranberry, & lime)

I believe the world is diverse for a good reason and I am thankful for the situations I’ve experienced in life.  It hasn’t been the easiest road, but it’s one that has set my life in motion.  The world is moving at a faster pace than ever before and as a self-proclaimed “Book Connoisseur” I find nothing better than learning and absorbing new material.  I studied journalism because I knew it was an art, something that has substance. I am both stylistically and morally a journalist, I understand the job and the purpose behind it.  I am absorbed in social media and the ever changing cultural landscape of both the United States and Europe.

I may not know what my dream job is but I certainly know what experiences I would enjoy having.  I desire to be in media of some sort in a metropolitan area, I would love to call New York City home for a bit, as well as numerous other social, political, and cultural capitals.  I would like a position that allows for flexibility and mobility that requires me to utilize my education, skills, passions, and principles in life.

And that’s it. This is me…well, for now. If you have any questions feel free to message me.

Best,

Tara Derington
